Wan wan okro ful baaskit!

Welcome to the revised and much updated version of the National Kriol Council's Website. I must say thank you to Kameale Terry, my niece who spent a month with us in Belize, before returning back to her home in the US to work and continue her education.
The NKC has tried to live up to its motto “wan wan okro ful baaskit” which is evident to be seen as little by little and with perciverence we have continued to move toward our goals. We have had many struggles, but many successes as well. Some of those successes are due to some assistance from the National Institute of Culture and History; Social Investment Fund; the Organization of American States, and from our members and friends.
The Council has a key role to play in the development of our country and people. Some people may not see it, but we are always in the fabric of this country, keeping track of where we fit in best and the best strategies we can use to make the most effective impact on what we know has to be accomplished. We are cognizant of the problems our young people face consequently, our strategies include them greatly in our development plans.
I want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all those who have supported us over the years and have come to us for information, which include teachers, students, parents, and visitors. This helped to validate the importance of the role we play as a cultural organization.
I continue to support all the diverse cultures in Belize and continue to advocate for the right of every child to be literate , that is to be able to read and write in their first language.
